Current public opinion in the Donbas: assessment of trends, forecast and recommendations for the government policy of re-integration of the Donbas

Over the period April-October 2017, the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation conducted quantitative and qualitative research, polling of experts and held public discussions in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts with the aim of identifying the key problems in the development of the local communities and looking for the most effective ways of resolving them. 

One of the main tasks of the project was to find methods and possibilities of how to engage local communities, so that they could have the maximum influence on the decision-making process at the central, regional and local levels.

In this Analytical Report we propose an overview of people’s attitudes regarding the local development and course of decentralization reform, opinions regarding the prospects of halting the armed conflict and the possibilities of the non-governmental organizations to influence the government.
