The Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation climbed one step higher compared to last year  on the “2016 Global Go To Think Tank Index” rating of among 90 of the top most important analytical centers in Eastern and Central Europe taking 47th place.

In the thematic rating of world analytical centers, which studies the issues of transparency and the effectiveness of administration, the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation took 44th place.

Research conducted by the (Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program, TTCSP) of the University of Pennsylvania. The TTCSP conducts research on the mutual ties of think tanks and state institutions, creates the annual Global Go To Think Tank Index rating, fosters the enhancement of potential and the development of programs of analytical centers at the national, regional and global levels so that they can effectively serve politicians and the public.

More than 1,950 scholars, state and private donors, politicians and journalists, who helped in ranking 6,500 think tanks on 18 criteria developed by ITCSP, participated in the polling.

Besides the Democratic Initiatives Foundation another six leading analytical centers of Ukraine made it into the ratings.

As Director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation Iryna Bekeshkina noted, such a number of influential Ukrainian think tanks in the rating is testimony to the high level of capacity of domestic analytical centers to influence the implementation of reform in the country. “This obligates us to expand the sphere of our activity where analytical opinions can effectively influence the implementation of much needed reforms in the country. At the same time, this puts great responsibility for the implementation of the principles of democracy and supremacy of the law in the activity of institutions of power,” Bekeshkina underscored.
