Independence Anniversary Marred by Russia’s Strikes on Ukraine

Russia has continued its drone and missile attacks on Ukraine, even as the country commemorates the anniversary of its 1991 declaration of independence from the Soviet Union. These strikes come amid ongoing U.S.-led diplomatic efforts to end Russia’s full-scale invasion, which began in February 2022 following nearly a decade of cross-border aggression and territorial disputes.
