G7 sends clear message on Ukraine support | Oleksiy Haran

At the G7 summit, leaders agreed to continue supporting Ukraine. The final statement's language was strong, and the summit itself differed from the previous one, which U.S. President Donald Trump left early, says Prof. Olexiy Haran, Research Advisor at the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation, in an interview with World Talks.

The statement included a commitment to “unwavering support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.” Haran notes that the current situation on the battlefield suggests the conflict could be “frozen,” making territorial integrity all the more crucial.

Ukraine is also seeking to put pressure on Russia through strikes on oil refineries and energy infrastructure. However, it still needs continued support – particularly when it comes to air defense.
