Maria Zolkina took part in the panel discussion “The Impact of the US Presidential Election on European Security"
Maria Zolkina, Head of Regional Security and Conflict Studies, Research Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, took part in the panel discussion “The Impact of the US Presidential Election on European Security", organized by the Royal United Services Institute, UK of the United Kingdom as part of the Transatlantic Trilateral Security Dialogue project alongside the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) in Oslo and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington.
At the briefing on the impact of the US presidential election result on European security Mariia shared her views on how change of US administration will potentially impact support to Ukraine and Russo-Ukrainian war in general.
“Now we need to make a difficult choice that Europe has been avoiding all along since 2022. Ukraine has bought time for everyone in Europe at the expense of its own people, but this cannot go on, and Ukraine risks losing without support. Europe indeed has all the money and even the potential to play a significant role. The only thing it lacks is political will and leadership. But the reality in Ukraine should lead to changes here as well,” said Maria Zolkina.
