Invitation to participate in the workshop "Effective Advocacy or How Civil Society Organizations Can Influence the Decisions of the Authorities Amidst a Full-Scale War"

Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation and the Institut für Europäische Politik (IEP, Berlin) invite representatives of Ukrainian civil society organizations to participate in a workshop on advocacy of policy decisions by Ukrainian CSOs in the wartime context.

The workshop is part of the UA Transformation Lab project, which is a joint project of IEP, Cedos, Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation, and the New Europe Center. The project is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.

The project aims to strengthen Ukrainian think tanks and civil society organizations, deepen their cooperation with local authorities, and provide them with the necessary tools to effectively contribute to the recovery and European integration processes.

The workshop will take place over two days on November 23-24, 2023 in Kyiv (the exact location will be announced later). Participants from other regions will be provided with accommodation and travel reimbursement.

During the workshop, participants will learn

• Why does a CSO need an advocacy strategy? How to develop it and evaluate the effectiveness of its implementation?
• What should be done to ensure that your policy recommendations influence the decisions of the authorities?
• What are the best practices of advocacy by Ukrainian CSOs in the context of a full-scale war?
• What is stakeholder analysis and why is it important for effective advocacy?

Working language: Ukrainian. Applications are accepted until November 12, 2023 inclusive.

How to apply?

When filling out the Google form, please tell us about your experience of working in a CSO, your organization's successful/negative experience in advocacy, your expectations from the workshop, and your ideas on how to apply the knowledge gained in your organization's work.

Please note that the number of participants is limited. The organizers of the workshop will provide you with feedback on your application.
